Responsibilities:

Work under supervision of Manager of R&D to develop advanced control systems for robotic manipulators and similar electromechanical systems, including motion control and servo tuning, development of dynamic models, modeling and simulations in Matlab, and implementation of software on real-time platforms. The responsibilities also include controls-related machine design analysis and selection of actuators, sensors and other controls-related components. Limited travel within and outside the US.

Essential Skills

  • Skilled in general mathematical modeling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with system dynamics and control systems theory.
  • Thermal modeling and analysis.
  • Hands on experience with control systems and tuning.
  • Proficiency in using MATLAB for data analysis and data control simulation
  • Experience in C and C++ programming for Linux and for embedded systems.
  • Some experience in electronic circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.

 Additional Desirable Skills

  • Theoretical background and experience in electrical and electronic system design.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design, embedded systems, interfacing with microcontrollers, power electronics design, and motion control.
  • Familiarity with optical design and opto-electronic components, such as laser diodes, photodiodes, transceiver circuits.
  • Proficiency in OrCAD, PADS or similar design tools.
  • Lab skills, including soldering of components, rework of PCBAs.

Minimum Education Requirement:

M.S./Ph.D. degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautic or similar engineering field.

Summary: The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in developing the next generation of electric motors and products that will contribute to the shared success of Persimmon and our customers.

Reports to: Manager of Mechanical Engineering

Direct Reports: None

Responsibilities and Deliverables: This position has the primary responsibility to design & develop electric motor components and other electromechanical systems, including test & reliability modules, design analysis, mechanical models, prototype construction

Skills Required:
• Mechanical design of machine elements and mechanisms
• Analysis of mechanical machine elements for stress, deflection; and related analysis
• Ability to create mechanical part models, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks 3D CAD software
• Ability to document and present designs and analysis results for review to a technical audience.

Experience Required:
• 1-5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering role, utilizing the skills listed above
• Ideal candidate will have experience engineering in the Semiconductor industry
• Engineering products that are used in an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environment
• Hands on experience building and testing prototype mechanical assemblies
• Hands on experience troubleshooting to find and resolve root causes of problems in mechanical systems

Other Requirements:
• Requires less than 5% travel to domestic and international locations
• Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds and require working with light machinery

Education Required:
• BS in Mechanical engineering or Mechanical engineering technology

Summary: This position has the primary responsible for developing, optimizing, and improving processes to ensure product quality. This involves taking the leadership in reduction of out-of-box quality issues, determining KPIs, gathering and analyzing data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing improvement plans.

Reports to: Director of Quality

Direct Reports: None – This is an individual contributor position with high visibility and critical path deliverables

Responsibilities and Deliverables:
• Lead cross-functional out-of-box quality reduction team with regular meetings and reports to management; this may entail root cause investigations, ensuring corrective actions are completed within and outside the group, and verification of effectiveness
• Work closely with production and other quality team members, including in-process inspectors to troubleshoot and resolve process issues
• Lead, or participate in, MRB meetings
• Identify opportunities for improvements in quality and manufacturing processes, and provide leadership in improving the processes in a cross-functional setting
• Monitor field failures and first pass yield; deploy problem solving tools such as 8D to reduce failure rates and increase yield
• Establish and develop quality processes to continually improve product quality; determine and improve KPIs
• Establish mindset of “zero defect” within the company
• Any other tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor and based on company needs

Skills Required:
• Competence in various Quality Tools, especially 8-D, 5-why, fishbone, and Kepner-Tregoe
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of LEAN principles and 5S
• Knowledge of six sigma principles; either green or black belt certification is desirable
• Understanding of Mechanical (GD&T) & Electrical drawings
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Products, especially Excel and Power Point
• Knowledge of statistical process control and SPC tools
• Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and issues with minimal management intervention
• Being able to adjust priorities with short notice in a fast-paced environment

Experience Required:
• 5+ years of experience in an Engineering position, with preferably 2+ years in Quality
• Having worked under ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System environment
• Proven leadership experience coordinating cross-functional teams within company
• Semiconductor industry experience is a plus
• Familiarity with FactoryLogix or VisualFactory, JobBoss, or other MES system is a plus

Other Requirements:
• Ability to work inside cleanroom and follow all cleanroom protocols, lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and walk up and down stairs multiple times per day
• Position requires on-site presence at Company facility during the majority of scheduled work hours

Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred; alternatively, other engineering disciplines, physics, or related sciences with experience in similar or relevant products)

Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to produce motors and other key products.

Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Direct Reports: None

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

• Author Work Instructions, develop workflows and improve operations in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
• Design, validate and maintain production fixtures and tooling
• Leads the development and deployment of new processes, methods, and production controls
• Provide technical expertise to the production floor. Coordinate with Manufacturing Manager to solve daily production issues
• Work with the Quality team to lead all process validation / documentation efforts. Co-authors PMFECA, PPAP, Process Flow, and other documentation
• Participate in MRB activities, and support the evaluation and investigation of non-conforming material
• Maintain equipment calibration and preventative maintenance records
• Participate as internal auditor for ISO, Participate on Safety committee

Skills Required:

• Communicate with a wide range of individuals, both internal and external to the company.
• A broad range of engineering skills, understanding mechanical and electrical concepts, knowledge of manufacturing methods and practices, and working with design documents controlled by specifications and geometric tolerances
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Solid modeling experience SolidWorks preferred
• Hands on manufacturing experience, use of hand tools, electrical assembly and test equipment.

Experience Required:

• 5+ years of Direct hands-on Manufacturing experience
• 3+ years of NPI, production floor layout, daily production support
• Commissioning, deploying and supporting equipment purchase and production bring up.
• In depth knowledge of lean and six-sigma principles and tools; flow design, kanban, cycle time, takt time, line balancing, constraint theory, kaizen, 6S, demand flow, CpK, and DOE

Other Requirements:

• Required approx. 10% travel to supplier locations which include local, domestic and international location
• Work is active in nature, and will require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred but Associate’s acceptable with experience
