Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will contribute to the design and development of control solutions for Persimmon’s robots and other electromechanical systems. Persons filling this position will: Design system architectures based on requirements; Leverage analyses and simulations to design circuits, design PCBs (schematic and layout), and perform testing, troubleshooting, and integration of PCBs into robots and other electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Own complete circuit development process for cutting edge applications in robotics: Specifications, analysis, simulation, design (Schematic & Layout), programming, prototyping (vendor management), testing, and documentation.
  • Typical circuit designs involve: three phase motor control, encoder interfaces, microcontrollers, CPLD, ADC/signal conditioning, power management, low power analog and digital, Ethernet, EtherCAT, high frequency power supplies and thermal management.
  • Algorithm development, programming of microprocessors and CPLDs.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers on electrical/thermal/packaging design, integration and testing.
  • Design and development of PCBs for robots and other electromechanical systems.
  • Bring up, test, diagnose prototype PCBs, rework of PCBs as needed.
  • Integrate, test, troubleshoot electrical components into robots and other electromechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers for PCB layout, fabrication, assembly and testing.
  • Occasionally may require overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
  • Occasional travel required, domestic and international.
  • Position is full time in-person in Wakefield, MA.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Expert level proficiency in OrCAD, PADS or similar design tools.
  • Extensive experience in circuit analysis, simulations, and troubleshooting.
  • Expert in circuit design (schematic and layouts).
  • Experience in managing and analyzing thermal performance of power components.
  • Theoretical understanding of cables and connectors and thermal rating thereof.
  • Theoretical background and experience in electrical and electronic system design.
  • Proficiency in test equipment; oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQs, digital loads, power meters.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design, Ethernet/EtherCAT, power electronics design and motion control for electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with 3-phase motor controller design, Matlab, EtherCAT, BiSS-C, boost circuits, SBCs, thermal management, resonant circuits, TI c2000 family, SEMI S9; F47 and
  • KCs, are a valued plus.
  • Lab skills, including rework and SMT PCB solder skills.

Education Required:

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, industry experience.

Summary:

Responsibilities:

Work under supervision of Manager of R&D to develop advanced control systems for robotic manipulators and similar electromechanical systems, including motion control and servo tuning, development of dynamic models, modeling and simulations in Matlab, and implementation of software on real-time platforms. The responsibilities also include controls-related machine design analysis and selection of actuators, sensors and other controls-related components. Limited travel within and outside the US.

Essential Skills

  • Skilled in general mathematical modeling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with system dynamics and control systems theory.
  • Thermal modeling and analysis.
  • Hands on experience with control systems and tuning.
  • Proficiency in using MATLAB for data analysis and data control simulation
  • Experience in C and C++ programming for Linux and for embedded systems.
  • Some experience in electronic circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.

 Additional Desirable Skills

  • Theoretical background and experience in electrical and electronic system design.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design, embedded systems, interfacing with microcontrollers, power electronics design, and motion control.
  • Familiarity with optical design and opto-electronic components, such as laser diodes, photodiodes, transceiver circuits.

Summary:  The Senior Buyer – Supply Chain Analyst will conduct data analysis on Persimmon robot materials, including cost analyses, cost containment opportunities, PPV calculations, part type categorization, allocation of parts to suppliers, supplier quality data, raw material pricing, transportation costs and more.  They will also be responsible for conducting cost containment and cost reduction analysis and supporting facts.  This position is responsible for working collaboratively with the Company’s suppliers and will assist in managing suppliers.

This position is data-intensive and therefore requires a high level of data analysis skills, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.  Successful candidates for this position will interact with the Supply Chain team, Persimmon’s suppliers and senior management.

Reports to:  Vice President, Supply Chain Development and Procurement

Direct Reports:  None – this is an individual contributor position with high visibility and critical path deliverables.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

·Analyze current material in Persimmon products, including part categories, part commonality and cost structure

·Identify cost containment strategy, work with suppliers and Supply Chain team to identify and implement cost reductions

·Track cost of all products over time, showing cost improvement

·Present cost targets and progress to senior management

·Develop supplier relationships in areas with significant cost down opportunities

·Contribute as a Senior Buyer for contract negotiation, supplier management and production interface

Skills and Experience Required:

·Proven or demonstrable negotiation skills

·Outstanding communication and data analysis skills

·Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel

·Able to work within a schedule driven environment.  Timing and a sense of urgency are critical parts of this role.

·Experience working with shifting priorities and moving deadlines

·Experience in one or more commodity types used on Persimmon products: fabricated and machined parts, electronic components and printed circuit boards or OEM components such as motors, bearings or encoders

Other Requirements:

·Required approx. 30% travel to supplier locations which include local, domestic and international location

·Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds

Education Required:

·Bachelor’s Degree required with at least 5-8 years’ experience in a Purchasing, Planning and Manufacturing environment, with focus on data analysis.

Summary:  The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in developing the next generation of robotic products that will contribute to the shared success of Persimmon and our customers.

Reports to:  Director of Mechanical Engineering

Direct Reports:  None

Responsibilities and Deliverables: This position has the primary responsibility to develop robotic and other electromechanical systems, including feasibility studies, design analysis, mechanical models, prototype construction and product introduction.

Skills Required:

·Mechanical design of machine elements and mechanisms (preferably precision mechanisms)

·Analysis of mechanical systems and machine elements for life, stress, deflection; and related software tools

·Ability to create mechanical part models, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred but not necessary)

·Ability to document and present designs and analysis results for review to a technical audience

Experience Required:

·10+ years experience in mechanical engineering role, utilizing the skills listed above

·Ideal candidate will have experience engineering precision robotics or mechanisms in the Semiconductor industry

·Engineering products that are used in an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environment

·Hands on experience building and testing prototype mechanical assemblies

·Hands on experience troubleshooting to find and resolve root causes of problems in mechanical systems

Other Requirements:

·Required less than 5% travel may include local, domestic and international location

·Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds
